Chocolate Cake with Homemade Chocolate Syrup in 20 Minutes

Yes! Only 20 minutes. The secret? Microwave. Yes people, it works. I mean it’s not going to make a super classy cake but trust me, it’ll definitely fix any chocolate cravings you have during anytime of the day. In 20 minutes flat. Ok this ‘recipe’ is easy, I’m not much of a baker but really this thing require very little experience and anyone can pull this off. All amount given are really just rough guidelines, just watch the ratio and you can pretty much rock it your own way.

Recipe

For Cake:

  • 4 tablespoon of self-raising flour
  • 4 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of instant coffee powder (totally optional but i love this, it adds a bit of depth in flavor)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 5-6 tablespoon of vegetable cooking oil
  • and lastly, evaporated milk.
For Chocolate Syrup (really, this is not even a recipe, just putting stuff together.)
  • 3-4 tablespoon of condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon of evaporated milk
Instructions:
Mix the dry ingredients(self raising flour, sugar, cocoa powder) together in a microwavable bowl and then followed by vanilla essence, egg, oil and then add the evaporated milk till you get the right consistency. What’s the right consistency? Well, the mixture must not be too thick or drippy. It should be thick enough that when you pour it from a  bowl, it should need a little help from the spatula. After that, just pop the bowl into the microwave for 5 minutes on High. Ok hold on, different microwave have different power settings so just make sure you keep an eye on the cake, after 1-2 minute, it’ll puff up real nicely, then just pop it out, take a fork, poke it through, if it comes out clean, its good to go.

For the Chocolate Syrup, just mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, and mix like crazy.

Now take out the cake outta the bowl straight onto a plate, then pour the gooey chocolate syrup all over it. I recommend refrigerating it for awhile but usually everything will be gone in 10 minutes. :p
